Fierce

Ottawa’s Black Sheep Theatre, and Toronto theatre collective Criminal Girlfriends, are thrilled to present FIERCE, a new play written and directed by legendary Canadian playwright George F. Walker, recipient of the Order of Canada for his work in the field.

Fierce is an intense and intensely funny razor-sharp work centered on two women. A retired professional woman, arrested while wandering in traffic is found to be under the influence of a potent “drug cocktail.” She is ordered by the court to undergo treatment, and placed in a clinic run by a psychiatrist who has her own difficult history. A volatile 75-minute encounter, fueled by painful revelations – and their mutual distaste of politeness – provocatively ensues.

Filled with Walker’s trademark ferocious and finely-honed wit, Fierce stars veteran actor and performer Pandora Topp as the therapist Maggie, and two-time Jessie Richardson award winner Emmelia Gordon as her client, Jayne.

The playwright himself has stepped in to direct this Ottawa remount.
